Shouldn't topspin include a forward swing?
Every shot in tennis or pickleball is made up of two swing components:
1. A forward swing — which generates power and depth
2. An upward/downward swing — which creates spin (Either Up – topspin or Down – backspin).
The key to mastering any shot is finding the right balance between these two, depending on what you want to achieve — more speed, more spin, or a mix of both.
Most players naturally understand the forward swing because it feels intuitive to hit through the ball. But where many struggle is with the upward swing — the part that generates topspin.
That’s exactly why we created the TopspinPro.
It’s designed to isolate and teach the upward motion of the swing using its angled screens. This allows players to focus purely on the biomechanics of topspin without worrying about the forward swing at first.
Once the feel for spin becomes natural, players can remove the screens and gradually blend in the forward swing — creating a smooth, controlled, and powerful topspin shot.
